Description
Repair work was carried out on the Otaihanga Swingbridge for the Kapiti Coast District Council. This bridge was sinking and had a lean to one side of 150mm.
Four main piles required lifting and a volume of concrete with reinforcing steel was built around them to halt any further subsidence. The wire supporting rope was tensioned to level the bridge.
KCDC required the bridge to remain open during repairs, allowing public access between Otaihanga and Waikanae to continue.
